The fate and current direction of individual drops of water in a powerful river can change but the result is not easily predictable.
However, the river continues it's course regardless.
If a drop happens for whatever reason to be on the surface, chances are it will see other drops momentarily free of the river, flying around. If it's just accidental or good luck, they will inevitably return to the river.
Such is the mystery of the great river life.
