Unfortunately, currently in Australia is it nigh on illegal for companies to make money without being berated by (largely) left wing driven media. And if there's anything remotely nefarious going on someone is there to weazel out the 'facts' and find some 'victims'. Nothing new there.
But this was all last week.
This week everyone needs to move on. The boss needs to man up and defend his company and be honest (yes, I know it's confronting) about their 'challenges'.
Turn this into an opportunity. Tell us how you're going to modernise the system to better screen potential franchisees, how we are then going to support them, lean on shopping centres, and be clearer in our communications with all parties. How you are working on new opportunities (such as cross brand ownership in the same precinct and new franchise models), and others, and a rough time frame for this exciting new developments. Tell us you've been working on this but the recent media has brought forward the announcement. Use the term 'leading the way" a few times.
