One of the most notable trends in power generation globally over the past few years, namely that over 50 per cent of investment in new generation has gone – and continues to go – into renewables.
This has amounted to an average of US$260 billion a year worldwide over the past five years.
The trend is for this percentage to continue to increase and, indeed, MENA’s (Middle East & North Africa) renewable energy capacity is expected to increase sixtyfold by 2030 compared to 2013 levels.
