    Hi Mirabiledictu1. In Florida most builds the blocks are the structural component of the building and they use internal timber framing so to provide a cavity between the blocks to stop moisture transmission to the internal walling and use it for a cavity to run services through.
    They coat the external blocks with an impervious coating.
    Florida has a hot climate and concrete blocks absorb less moisture than clay masonry. They use large eaves overhangs, reducing the need for rebates.
    The way FBR was conducting a "display agreement " was a total failure. Gaps in the perp ends of blocks without mortar and using plastic wedges to provide a plumb wall, cutting the base out of so called bridging blocks to carry over inconsistencies, without a bed of mortar for structural requirements was always going to end in disaster.
