Re accuracy and the need for plastic wedges and bridging blocks re no mortar , may be a significant reason for no uptake, at least for now.May have passed code but not builders standard expectation. Re the mortar external block wall and rendered (stucco) and over hanging eaves etc , makes sense. However on your comment on internal framing providing cavity. I , long time ago posted a video link Mike Haduck , inspecting a block and mortar home build.Should Google if interested. There the framing is only for internal room dividing walls , not on inside of block wall.They fasten ~ 50 by 10mm flats against block wall and then gyprock , sheet rock over. Just surprised me.Does not look like something we would do in aus.
