Sifer I tend to agree with you about the publics perception of a miscarriage of justice as against the evil perpetrated by an individual/s. I do not like the idea of capital punishment, but feel that many crimes are being committed as jail time is percieved to be an insufficient deterrence if convicted, Please note use of "if"! Todays Royal Commission evidence only confirms my opinion of how our laws are treated IMHO. I remember having discussed the capital punishment issue with an uncle of mine. A man from another era of character, and also an ex rat of Tobruk. When I mentioned to him my qualms about wrongly convicting and executing an innocent person, he stared straight at me and mentioned that during the war many good people were killed, yet the war was prosecuted anyway. Maybe he was telling me that's life, maybe to toughen up and be a man, or else life is an omellette into which we occasionally crack a bad egg.
