A cautionary tale....

One of my best friends went into business for himself a few years back with a couple of partners. They were all in their mid 30s.

They were highly intelligent and experienced. The business created complex corporate tax structures that saved big companies tens of millions of dollars. They were very good at what they did.

They struggled, however. My friend simply could not get over the fact that the deals they proposed to these companies would save them ridiculous amounts of money, but nobody - literally NOBODY - would give them a break.

My friend and his partners came to the conclusion that the only reason was bloody-mindedness - that despite the fact these companies could save tens of millions of dollars, they still made a truckload of money anyway so no big deal to them, and why make three blokes in their mid 30s fantastically rich?

Bloody mindedness and ego - in spite of the fact my mate had the best product in town.

The business folded after two years.

Immoral, unfair, illogical. Welcome to the world of business.
