A SURGE in oil prices following oil sanctions on Iran helped lift US energy stocks to maintain an extended rally for New York-listed coal companies yesterday. Patriot Coal continued its strong performance with a 33% jump to close at $US1.84.
TSX takes off
THE mining and energy sectors propelled the Toronto Stock Exchange to its highest level in almost two months yesterday as investors welcomed positive factory data from the US and looked for greater stimulus from global central banks. Teck Resources added $C1.24 to close at $32.77.
