OEM,s reluctant to add sensors on assembly lines unless forced to do so by the airlines customers. Sort of makes sense we have to work on the airlines to make the change. They the airlines have two problems, old A/C already up in the air can only be upgraded by the airlines deciding to adopt because they can see these sensors can save money. There are lots of these A/C in operation, 16,000 to 20,000 on any one day, so lots to fork out to up front because just one A/C is taken out of service for days for an instillation plus cost to do it. Their second problem would be to pay more again to do the same for the new A/C they acquire from the OEM,s, a step they would rather pass onto the OEM. Can’t be that hard to convince an airline to pressure an OEM that this tech be part of the deal. Looks much like this is the plan and RL is on to it, add new A/C installs into mix and revenues will be substantial.
