Great to see that you are passionate about your view on charting verses the fundamentals.

Although being a fundamentalist myself I do however respectfully disagree with some of your views about charting, esp your comment "Traders will simply be lucky or unlucky, dependent on news, to be in or out at the times of inflection point drama WHEN they occur."

so yes they may make the wrong call at times depending upon when they buy or sell and when news flow occurs, however I have a lot of respect for the traders on this thread, I can see  that they do have a lot of learned insight around charts (and I would like to learn more about it) into how the market responds in between company announcements and it looks like to me TA could easily make money for a long period of time and then get out altogether prior to the final phase 3 results (or other main catalytic events) therefore reducing the risk of a bad announcement / result going against them. 

And at the end of the day I think I heard somewhere that only about 1 in 10 biotechs ever really make it, so on that basis a good chartist can still do well 9 times out of 10 whereas a fundamentalist might only be correct 1 time in 10. (although I reckon a discerning fundamentalist can do better).

Likewise a discerning trader should also be able to trade themselves upwards from a low to a high holding (starting with a low initial investment) and then choose to take a longer term fundamental position using the money made on the trades to hold that new and higher position potentially becoming a substantial holder, that got up there on the trades, I reckon Slick might fit into this category.

Anyway I certainly see that a combination of FA and TA in the right hands would  work better than FA alone.
