I am so sorry to hear of your loss & yes @supertramp did sum this up very well.  Quality of life is so important, in treatment, in a possible cure & also in palliation, where a complete cure may not be possible, but for patients to enjoy as much symptom free time as possible.

I have worked in Palliative Care (not now) & for you to have lost your beautiful wife at a young age is not that uncommon.  I have cared for 23yo women who have passed from breast ca & you feel so ripped off for them having a young life cut short & so devastated for their loved ones & children. Yes treatment has come a long way in Cancer, but not far enough.  I am very hopeful for B cell vaccines too.  Keytruda helps so many, and in more indications now, but that too is not without side effects & fails to work for many patients.  Your post really did tug my heart strings, and I hope so much that B cell vaccines will be utilised ASAP for anyone that may benefit.  At present this will only be via clinical trials.  Published evidence is the way forward for Oncologists. 

Nursing staff whom spend a great deal of time with patients & their families in a therapeutic relationship, we want the best for our patients & their families.  I hope that moves forward in a big way soon.  A very brave & I’m sure emotional post from you.  Men such as you & Cricket Australia Pink Days that raise money for Breast Cancer Nurse Specialists to visit patients at home have helped this cause so much.  IMU are trialling vaccines for gastric cancer in Asia, & I’m pretty sure these patients will just be happy to have some hope & QOL of life too.  SP has been down here, but you can clearly see IMU is on a mission.  A reason for me to stay invested here, it’s not all about $.  xo
