The affects of Covid restrictions was brought home to me forcefully yesterday.
First I learnt that a tragedy hit a friends business partner. His 27 yo daughter was recently sacked because she was not vaccinated. He returned home and found her suicided in his front room.
Another friend dropped by. His mother is in hospital with leukemia and he has just been told by the doctors that she has 2 days to live. Well the hospital is 25k from his home and the government prohibits him from traveling more than 15k from his home. The hospital anyway does not allow him to visit his dying mother. He was distraught with a bottle of beer in one hand.
Victoria is no longer "The world's most livable city". Reminds me of the numberplate sticker from a few years ago "Victoria Police State"; maybe "Victoria Dictator Dan's State" is more accurate as many police are taking leave rather than act as enforcers.
