Rep.Kevin McCarthy(R-Calif.) has lost the second ballot for Speaker of the House.
While McCarthy was expected to face stiff opposition from a small group of hardline critics, few predicted the sort of double-digit shellacking that happened on the House floor Tuesday.
The House, which hasn’t needed more than one vote to elect a Speaker in a century, will now need to go to a third Speaker vote.
