Ansteel wouldn't gain anything through making them cap raise, but they will gain another 9% of GBG through this $30m 'loan' (it is actually an advanced payment for the shares they will get in 12 months). It is quite clever how they've put it, makes innocent unsuspecting GBG holders think they are out to help us but are just quietly swallowing us (and at 22c!!).

Now, if Ansteel made a hostile takeover of GBG at 22c, would you think they were so kind?
