You will find that the same thing occurred under the Liberal Governments and compensation was significantly greater over the Libs term....
It is a big and complicated issue, but i do find it difficult to understand why someone who has arrived illegally in a country can then claim a financial benefit.
Although when you look at 5.4million it is a very small amount compared to how much we pay to keep people out..
