    has anybody got any thoughts on Powertel and they current/future operations.

    Since news on their consolidation and its completion, their price has just been sliding considerably. I heard rumors that an announcement was to be made on a new cable (fibre optic) to be laid between Oz and LA??..... by the looks of this, this would be a good deffinition of a rumor.
