the FWC made a reasoned and balanced decision given all the factors involved. I just have to accept they know far more than I do, they have all the data and explanations before them.
yes @mogga there will be inflationary effects but such will be delayed by around 3 months while the wages impact is felt through the economy and other workers' wages also increase in line with the decision.
its the same regardless of how big or small the rise is.
those on minimum wages are also mostly on insecure/gig work with lower hours than most other industries. The impact from this decision will be far less than the rises awarded to management and executives who get big rises through enterprise bargaining. these much higher wage rises have a bigger impact on prices.
Lower paid workers aren't able to bargain so if FWC doesn't award a rise there is no other option for these people other than to struggle on with decreasing disposable income.
