In a 1995 episode of 'Seinfeld,' Jerry met an attractive female police sergeant. The television series 'Melrose Place' came up during their conversation, and he repeatedly denied he watched it. She challenged him to take a lie detector test the following day to prove he wasn't lying. Because he was a devoted fan of the show, he asked his friend George Costanza, a compulsive liar, how to beat the machine. George said he could do that easily, but he scoffed at Jerry's chances of success.
However, he did offer this classic bit of advice: 'Jerry, just remember. It's not a lie… if you believe it.'
