- The world has reserves of 13 million tonnes, and resources of around 35 million tonnes, of contained lithium.
- World reserves and resources would be enough for over 1,000 years of consumption at current levels. World production increased last year and there are many more projects in development.
- Cost of production and a strong strategic partner are the determinants of success, not the lithium price.
- There are several competing technologies to lithium ion batteries that do not use lithium.
A little caution might be wise regarding Australian pegmatite plays.
