" why is Oz minerals selling the Martabe gold and silver project,"

we have to remember that all these deals were initiated when OZ was at banks mercy and to some extend it stil is.

Banks still have OZ by the curlies and they are not concern what you or I think. They just want their money back pronto.

" Oh and finally, Commodity prices have shot up considerably since the min metals offer, so obviously this offer is no longer appropriate. "

Well it is similiar to when you sell your house. Once you sign the contract then you have to deliver the house on setlement even if the market is up 30%. If you pull out there is a hefty break out fee.

BTW share holders still can vote the whole deal down. There will be a huge fee to Min and then the banks may get sick of waiting, call the loans and put the liquidators in. Then the shareholders come very last and may have to wait few years to get a cent or two a share, most likely nothing.

Unless you can get someone with deep pockets to pay the banks of, the OZ ought to go on with the deal IMO.
Because even white knights do not act out of charity.
