a few things

I have been away for about 5 weeks so trying to catch-up on all the news. Here are some thoughts.

    1)Telemedcare
If by some miracle, the current amateurish government (IMO) can successful role out the National broadband network without bankrupting the nation, it appear that e-health (in particular the delivery of remote health care to rural and remote clinics and patients who could be cared for in their homes rather than hospital and clinics with the assistance of platform like telemedcare) will be a major focus.

Refer to 4e in pdf file.

"Other technology policies Other Labor technology policies such as its $466.7 million e-health health identifier project and its telemedicine tie-in to the NBN will also now go ahead. However, Ovum analysts Jens Butler and Kevin Noonan noted in a research note recently that things would be tight in other areas".

2). Stirling Halcion pathology business takeover.
Very light on information regarding Halcion pathology.

"Stirling plans to introduce pathology services to select pharmacies
throughout Australia and thereby establishing a national network that will provide for a far improved access and service level to the public".

It looks like they plan to introduce blood collection etc in pharmacies as an alternative to going to conventional pathology clinics.

3). It appears that the ImmunoXel story is been taken seriously. I think Stirling will have to decide sooner or later if they want to keep pushing the "botanical" slant or do away with it altogether and start calling this a drug i.e. isolate what active compound/s that are in the cocktail. Just think of the cyclosporine story (a 'magic' soil bug that lead to the discovery of cyclosporine). But then again, keeping the botanical hat on will allow this to get to market quicker.
