A full house with Dr. Mazzitelli and Professor Scott Rankin

There have been two new very important updates added to the Admedus FB page recently, if you haven't had a look already go over and check them out and you'll see CardioCel in the hands of two giants in the field of cardiac surgery.

The first post is Dr. Mazzitelli presenting to a packed crowd at the 21st Century Innovators Valve Symposium in Minneapolis. Although look closer and you'll see the most important detail.... this is a presentation on CardioCel used for 'Aortic valve reconstruction'..... this is pioneering work as previously reconstruction of this valve was not considered possible in a great % of cases because surgeons did not have the material to do it, the materials they had previously could not stand the pressure that this valve is constantly under and so the mechanical qualities of previous patches were not considered suitable due to their lack of reliability mechanically and of course the calcification issues which all patches face typically <18 months post implantation.

So instead of repairing and reconstructing this high pressure valve surgeons were forced to replace it.

CardioCel has solved these issues (mechanical reliability and non-calcifying)  so now instead of replacing the valve, which carries with it serious consequences (a life time of anti-coagulation medication and risk of endocarditis) surgeons can now do with confidence what they've always wanted to do, reconstruct the valve..... thanks to CardioCel.

This is a market worth billions of $.

The second post shows a great photo of Professor Scott Rankin from Vanderbilt University doing a wetlab presentation with CardioCel. The company couldn't have found anyone better than Professor Scott Rankin to do a practical demonstration to up and coming surgeons and I believe his involvement with this revolutionary product will have a big influence on the next wave of surgeons to start using CardioCel.
