Today was my final dayin London.
I’ve been here for theinaugural Alliancefor Responsible Citizenship forum.
A gathering of 1500 people from 73 nations who want to build a better future for their countries.
A future built ontimeless values, common sense and classical virtues.
A future where family,ordered liberty under law, parliamentary democracy, free enterprise, faith, reason,sacrifice, prudence and responsibility are the basis of human flourishing.
It’s been a bracing three days.
We’ve heard powerful messages across a number of important topics.
I was part of a panel that discussed the future of our democratic institutions.Youcan watch that here.
But today I want todirect you towards a shortspeech on free markets and good governance — and the dangers posed by itsmutant siblings of monopolies, cronyism and woke capitalism.
The recent referendum showed us how some of our business elite operate these days, as they cosied up to government while ignoring their shareholders.
It wasn’t a flattering picture.
There will be more to discuss over the coming weeks. There are many more speeches and panels thatyoucan access here.
In the meantime, I’mencouraged that a new network of leaders has come to life, and that there ishope for a better future.
