Sorry - but he didn't.
He was going to bring back Gov. currency to replace the Fed Reserve Notes (aka 'dollars') but was assassinated before it took place.
I understand it was going to be backed by silver, not gold ... the USA had a HUGE stockpile of silver at that time, all of which is now gone.)
