I'm not sure that we are making it easy for people to integrate into our society.
It seems to me that too many people prefer not to embrace the new comers by focusing on the many factors, values and beliefs we do have in common, and instead focus on those points on which we differ.
I don't care how different various cultures may seem on the surface, if you look beyond the obvious, you will find a person not so different to yourself, with similar aspirations that probably motivated him to come here in the first place.
By putting pressure on them to conform in all ways is only going to alienate them.
Nobody wants to become a clone of another person, though it does seem that being indistinguishable from everyone else is a common Australian trait, as many tall poppies could no doubt confirm.
