Both side of politics want this project to go ahead. The opposition has said that if it gets into power it will try to negotiate a better deal so I think it is possible that things might get delayed if the vote of no confidence is successful.
I’m quietly optimistic that the project will be developed as both sides know that it’s impact on PNG’s economy will be substantial and will alleviate the foreign currency shortage.
IMHO Steamships’ share price currently does not factor in any growth in earnings so if the LNG project does not proceed I doubt it will have a negative impact on the share price if still trading at current levels.
