    Yes it is indeed cunning.

Alexis Tsipras is a brilliant stategist, along with the Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis who is a game theorist and practitioner.
They would have already gone through most of the scenarios and played out their strategies in advance. This is why they are not being taken by surprise on ANY moves.

(This is what I've been saying all along about them, btw!).

They have been and are playing, the long game.

    Not to be underestimated.

At least you can see it, ....but Dopey is not catching on at all.

(he is still banging on with his germanic they borrow they must pay ethos...as if governance, probity, democratic principles and accountability about making bad loans without due probity, are utterly meaningless and all that matters is the bidding of Troika bureaucrats.

This is a game of strategy and a propaganda war....it's not so easy for the Troika bullies! Meanwhile Tsipras quoted FDR in his speech to the nation yesterday for good measure! "we have nothing to fear but fear itself".

Nice touch, that as it will resonate with the Americans like nothing else. The Americans are sweating on possibly losing a sphere of influence in Europe to Russia and have been busy behind the scenes applying pressure to key players.

It's fascinating and brilliant to watch those two in action. I see that Tsipras has sent a letter to the Heads of Government trying to get the ECB's decision reversed on the bank liquidity ceiling. Neat play as well. You can bet the draft of that has been sitting around for awhile).
