I've been waiting for a similar suggestion to the surprise farm-out of Buffalo. Sill waiting!! CVN and STO are trying to sell about 40% of Dorado and interest doesn't seem to be there. Why not offer the chance to the Commonwealth Government. Many other countries have interests in commodity developments. A special company, including a research unit, could be set up to initially invest in Dorado. It might also invest in the renewables during the gradual transition from oil and gas. Further development of the new floating units that produce electricity from ocean waves ( and tides ? ) could be a starter. The first unit has been successfully tested over a longish period and might be a great competitor for offshore windmills. It would IMO be a very profitable investment for the government and might easily give permanent stability to the energy market. A rational Scientific look at Nuclear energy as an option would be useful. Sites near the Snowy where transmission line are available might be considered. Safe sites to the north could be a goer ,near water reservoirs , to pump water to the south. We need a government with vision for the future and the project would need to be approved by all parties. i.e. apolitical. Perhaps some of the current entrepreneurs in WA could get together if the government showed no interest.
