Death rate depends on amount of testing. 1.3% in Australia which has had high testing and most cases closed. Research shows ~30% of classes asymptomatic. What's harder to measure is what proportion of mild cases in particular cultures get tested.BUT key is that 15% of cases require hospitalisation, of these 13.7/15 pull through, if hospitals fill up and can't take them, none of these would make it at home, death rate would be 15%. Lockdown measures are to make sure there are enough beds in hospitals. It's not a conspiracy or self preservation of pollies, plain and simple if this gets out of control to the point there are no resources, death rate is extremely high. We are seeing this in 3rd world countries already, but testing here is also very low where only a fraction of cases are diagnosed.
