I think that you might find thast the payment is $200k for death plus $50k for each dependant child plus pension. There was retrospective legislation passed after the Blackhawk accident.

I'm personally comfortable with how much we pay through the DVA, where the budget is around $11b per annum and usually goes up every year.

That letter was very big on emotion but very light on facts. Not many people want to take on this sensitive issue but it's not as simple as the letter implies.
