Thanks Jocam - I don't think we'll ever get used to the poor level of info put out by them sometimes.
It seems to me these accelerated wells are more of an accounting exercise than anything else as it doesn't increase our reserves as we'd already discovered this gas previously -we're spending $6mil today on two wells instead of spending $1mil in two years time on recompletions -granted we get the $30-35mil early but we shorten the proven life of the Vermilion field by probably some 18 months -so we need a new Vermilion-type discovery every two years to keep the gas flowing - I think you're right in that we're never going to have a decent reserves position that might attract a 'big brother' to us.
After Main Pass is developed,we'll have two platforms to wheel around the GOM to the next discovery so the costs of developing that discovery will be greatly diminished and so by getting the gas out of Vermilion quicker that platform becomes available sooner for that next discovery.
