@Sweetsound looking at that woman, I remembered that 'red' used to be my favourite colour - my favourite red velvet skirt was pinched by youngest daughter - gave her so much, she has got all of her Dad's little handicraft items (at one stage when he lost his job, he began making wooden toys, went to markets with them . . great fun, we all helped, but eventually we had to move to the big smoke for 'proper' work) and she doesn't talk to me, accuses me of 'stuff' I never even heard of . . . . has rejected her whole family . . . I am still thinking of her in a good way . . .
so the lesson is? people can create their own unhappiness, if so inclined . . . and coming back to your story:
I thought of another friend of mine, over in Europe, who grew up unloved by both parents, father ill-treated him, mother was never around (boyfriends) - so at age 11 he took himself off to Vienna, checked into an 'Apprentices Home' - father had to pay the bills - and became a wonderful teacher - he is now retired, but takes on causes, fronts up to government ministers etc. - tried to take on the case of the recurring language difficulties of migrant kids after the school holidays (they go home to illiterate parents, who keep talking in their native language, kids forget what they have learnt, which impedes their progress) - I think he has given up on that one. Now he and his wife live a gracious retired life, with a bit of travel every year - and I get the reports in beautiful, precise language - the man is a gem, and so is his wife, loves him to bits.
Keep looking for friends, be open!
This video and the music are so beautiful - wherever do you find them?
