I mentioned those same notions a few posts ago. At that point I stated an uncertainty as to whether, or not, CNOOC had drill ships, but that if they did, and we were in a JOA with them and enjoying favorable terms (i.e. free-carry), then their rig(s) would be employed.
Well, they do have rigs... lots of them. I just poked around a bit. It looks as if they specialize more in stationary rigs v drill ships, but it appears they have plenty of both. They build the stuff. I guess I need to step-back a bit and realize that we are now in association with the PRC itself... all of the power, capacity, and weight, and stop thinking of CNOOC as just another very large corporation. They are China. So silly, silly me. Of course they have their own rigs... shyte-tons of them.
