re: a mathematical question stockmarket technical analysis is big big business. The amount of money spent over the years on books, seminars, programs, systems and data feeds around the world would run into hundreds of millions of dollars.
The marketing hype behind it all is mind boggling and the biggest myth of them all is Gann. i'm not saying Gann's methods don't work, because there are traders who use his methods and trade successfully but the the statistics suggests that traders fail using T/A.
Its in the best interest to keep the dream alive by making false claims on the success of any system or method.
But in saying that, the use of computer generated systems that engluff most derivative markets will continually provide classic pinpoint patterns and price structure for anyone that uses to T/A to profit.
As most T/A is lagging based and a bad predicator for future movement there are other methods to double the probability of success, that the use of statistics and T/A can provide.
