    Neither of us has answered your question but interestingly, for different reasons.

    Zox has brought out the old Random Walk theories which are fine if you believe that because you can make a model based on random events, that model must be true. Have you ever tried to model a waveform mathematically? Give me enough exponentials, and I can build you any model you like. It won't be right but it will give you a damn good approximation to your real-world event... What zox has said is that he doesn't believe TA can answer any market question let alone your particular question...

    I on the other hand, do believe that TA, if used as a tool can be helpful in making trading/investing decisions. That said, I believe there are significant limitations on what can be done. Hence my suggestion that I think trend lines per se are very useful but that TA (to my knowledge and intuition at least) makes no comment about the length of trends...
