I said " heading towards retirement" not retiring and one can if they have investment properties showing a net income.
I would think that one does not retire on share investments alone as any thing unplanned can happen to that income .

But a mix of rental income ( practically guaranteed income) and profit from a fantastic run in shares, and more still to come, together with a well managed SMSF,one has had for 30 years allows for me to consider it.

Yes, I am planning on "Heading for Retirement" from physical work soon, 40 years in the Building game takes its toll, and if RHT and others continue to do well, why not.
