Fresh from his efforts to get Mr Bernardi to come off the potty. Mr Bernardi was going to shirtfront him and called him for self interest. Ms Devine sees it this way:

I like the Tony Abbott we’re seeing now, who wants to abolish 18C, is tough on Islamism, rejects political correctness and wants smaller government and lower taxes.

It’s just a pity the Tony Abbott we actually had as Prime Minister did the opposite.
So now when he interrupts his Christmas holidays to call for unity in the Liberal Party, forgive me for taking his motives with a grain of salt.
There he was on Friday, front page of The Australian, and all over 2GB, imploring Senator Cory Bernardi, without naming him, to stay in the tent for the good of the Liberal Party.
