Nowadays the main exploration technology advances are in the area of computing (surprise surprise).
There is now software generically called GIS. (mmm as I said Im not a Geo so what it stands for I cannot recall).
Basically the database data handling capacity around nowadays allows the geos to overlap maps of all of the data over a region down to micro scale around a mine.
data will exist in layers in the form of geochem, structural (faults), geology, drill data, geophysics, magnetics.
they can rank exploration targets according to the collective information provided by all this data.
It has not been able to done until the last 5 to 10 years as the computing technology hasnt been around.
