Brookfield could see value in large injections of cash and changing the business(including management one may suggest) to make it a highly profitable company.What are you stuck with now, the same old tired management who have done very little to improve shareholder value, a need for a large volume of funds and a lack of vision.Brookfield will be back once they sort out the model to offer in a hostile takeover and one could say this is also supporting the share price to an a certain degree.
