The end of hydrogen no, just the beginning of the end for hydrogen fuel cells in cars. The tech is at best transition backed by oil companies and downstream fuel refineries looking for new markets. Putting excess energy into hydrogen production during cheap/high supply times by nuclear or offshore wind into existing gas lines makes a lot more sense to me. More than talk in the UK this will happen and probably parts of Europe will follow. Up to 20% volume can be blended into existing methane gas lines. I think we could see base load production plants with a mix of storage and hydrogen production capabilities in years to come. Why transport hydrogen all over the Europe/Asia for cars when the market and infrastructure already exists.
