That was my thought too, that Tesla has no need for, nor are they pursuing, a million mile battery. Cheaper batteries seems like what they want, even with slightly higher capacity that what's available now. The cheaper the battery, the more likely they can reach their goal of selling $25k mass-produced cars.
Million mile batteries might have a place in more industrial settings or in the home, eg. HVAC and PV solar
