SMC GOLD (SMO) was going down like the rest yesterday when it was saved by the bell.
Yesterday the company reported drilling aimed at upgrading resources at the Cinabrio mine in Chile had indicated a new high-grade copper zone.
The shares came from 0.3c behind at 8.6c to finish up 0.1c at 9c.
Managing director Rob Kidd also said the latest intersections followed the company's highly successful exploration programs in 2005 which had provided an almost 500 per cent increase in resources at Cinabrio - combined measured, indicated and inferred resource being increased to a total of 10.77 million tonnes at 1.43 per cent copper containing 165,781 tonnes of copper-equivalent.
