    < Looksmart haven't enjoyed the best of press over the past two years and few know of what they are really up to, in reality. >

    The following is, as has been posted elsewhere by my dad.

    I'm still very "hot" for a Newscorp "buy-in" & feel that 33M shares issued @ $5.00pps, will 'do the trick'.

    And the $165M "cash" will be most welcomed by Looksmart, allowing it to then speed up what is a very exciting concept. And a proven model that the Co has projected increased revenues of between 26% to 28% this quarter, that closes on 31 December,2006).

    There is no 'other' current search facility (apart from Looksmart) that can go anywhere near providing the kind of services that are required to enable the kind of networked Global appeal that can be then offered. And, whilst it's simple, it has been proven to work. The tier ONE quality of the Co's current list of partners surely tell us that, "it's on". I expect an announcement soon. There are some "loose ends" yet to be finalised (or, settled) I imagine. These are covered within a post to a private (LOOK/LOK) Google Group, only this morning. I'll share it with you.

    Still more "reshuffling" to come before any global consortium or, newspaper networks are to be revealed, in my opinion.

    < Gannett may sell UK unit Newsquest: paper
    Sunday December 10, 4:10 pm ET LONDON (Reuters) - U.S. media company Gannett Co. Inc. (NYSE:GCI - News) is set to review its British newspaper unit, Newsquest, a move that could lead to its disposal for up to 1.5 billion pounds (US$2.9 billion), the Sunday Express newspaper reported. >

    Gannett--no truth in report it may sell Newsquest

    < Media company Gannett Co. Inc. (GCI.N: Quote, Profile , Research) said on Monday there is no truth to the report in London's Sunday Express newspaper suggesting that Gannett is considering selling its UK subsidiary Newsquest. In a statement, Gannett said Newsquest is a valuable part of the company.>

    Newsquest is a subsidiary of Gannett Co., Inc. We serve our customers through:

    * our 18 daily titles and almost 300 weekly newspapers
    * a weekly readership of more than 13 million
    * a weekly circulation of more than 10 million copies
    * a digital network which attracts more than 3.5 million unique users
    * Nearly 9,500 employees
    * 11 newspaper printing sites plus Southernprint
    * a network of more than 180 local newspaper and portal websites
    * magazine publishing
    * heatset magazine printing
    * direct marketing and door-to-door delivery

    The potential of search/news and an articles "feed" (of the CBS/FoxTV Sites variety) is very possible, in time. And it can be improved on it's current offering. Add Furl & give all the AdCenter to manage their individual "centers" and LOOKSMART is "flying". It's hard to imagine what quarterly rev. returns would be (in terms of 'shared' revenues, License fees for Furl) with virtually thousands of websites (includes each and every "local" newspaper), this can all finish up as.

    Newscorp has struck a snag with it's proposed purchase of the Federal Publishing Company (FPC) here in OZ ...... < News Ltd paid $180 million for FPC's 25 magazine titles, including Vogue and Australian Good Taste, in October and analysts believed at the time a bid for the newspaper division may also have been made.>

    The "drop down" on this link shows ALL publications involved.

    Shareholders only need to be patient for a lot of this, to all fall into place. Looksmart has already displayed, that it does have the scope to be the epicentre of either/both seach & verticalised articles results, that can be shared universally on many 'locally' managed websites, (through the use of AdCenter) and can so easily be accessed by all readers, (includes sex & age), from all 'walks of life'.

    That's how I continue to see it all. Then there's (wireless) "mobile"???? UHMMMmm? The two posts on UpSnap give my feelings in this regard. The big stated understanding there is, that "carriers" will want to continue to distance the BIG Portals (in their fear of losing advertisers) and the previous post that relates to a role for "both" TrueLocal.com and Local.com (to play) and almost shows just how YP's can (and will) be accessed for wireless, as this area develops.

    Cheers to holders!!
