For those following this remarkable story to be, as it unfolds, here are some notes to support the above.

I've been looking at the UpSnap deal we (Looksmart) have and in particular, the pay-per-call aspect of mobile advertising. I'm trying to "link" Cingular, their move into the Latino market (plus their mobile users) - Cingular Wireless is the largest wireless company in the United States, with more than 58.7 million customers who use the nation's largest digital voice & data network, but to no avail, really!!

Latino is a growing market.

The following are "jumbled" notes, really. UpSnap has risen 30% in the past 5 days or, so & I was looking for a reason. But it can only help Looksmart, from both angles, I suppose? - [UPSN.ob has now fallen by nearly 50% in the past three sessions!!]
Bell South are still partners of LOOK and they own 40% of Cingular. UpSnap, although having less than $1M in revenues, is certainly on the move. Their latest announcement can only help with an increase in revenue for Looksmart, in time.

Looksmart partner UpSNAP's registered user base grew to over 2.33 million registered customers in fiscal 2006, and UpSNAP added thousands of new content providers and services.
"The US consumer market is showing strong growth in mobile data and text messaging. We are seeing strong demand for our products, which we will market aggressively to the 210 million mobile phone users in the United States during 2007," said Philipp.

Free mobile search provider UpSNAP is rolling out a portfolio of applications for mobile search, information and entertainment that is powered by pay-per-call mobile advertising.

9/29/2006 - Msearch (mobile search) - "Because the search application is powered by pay-per-call mobile advertising, the services are effectively ad-funded. UpSnap derives revenues from pay-per-call advertising that is effectively built in to the information services. When users search for a service and then call the merchant using the data service to clinch the sale, the merchant pays UpSnap for the referral."
---------
May 31, 2005 - "The company offers LookSmart's search service via SMS, or short message service. If the user types in "Flowers 415" and then chooses the "free call connect" option, the local flower company that has paid for the top spot on the service will automatically receive the call.
UpSnap CEO Tony Philipp said that "merchants are willing to pay 10 times higher for cell phone-search access than web-search access."
