Proposed Constitutional ammendment I am still wondering why the Australian constitution needs to be amended to ensure Aboriginal people / groups are consulted. Surely this can happen as a matter of process within the existing government processes. From observation over the last decade there has been a consistent willingness to consult aboriginal reference groups and other Australian groups. How would the consultancy process work? for every decision / policy should we consult everyone in Australia? The government would ground to a halt with indecision delays and possible legal challenges from groups who would claim that they were not sufficiently consulted thus resulting in long delays, indecision and red tape everywhere.
