    "when you rent its dead money for life"

    I used that term because it seems to be a favourite of some pro-buying-property-all-the-time people. I don't consider paying money for a roof over your head as 'dead' money whether renting or mortgaging. Some times it makes financial sense to rent, other times it makes sense to buy but both entail paying other people for the privilege.

    Yes, eventually a mortgage is paid out.
    Yes, there are some who will need to rent for ever.

    But some times those that can buy are better off renting for a while. I think this point escapes some people on this forum.
