Q: Why the heck are you here?

    .....................

I don't understand. As recently as February 2009, then PM and Rooster, Kevin Rudd [now a feather duster trying to re-invent himself as credible] published a quasi-scholarly essay in The Monthly magazine. Notwithstanding the fact that at the 2007 election he promised voters he was an "economic conservative" and promised again that there was only a sliver between himself and Howard on economic policy, the newly re-invented Karl Rudd published in February 2009 a diatribe that would not have been out of place in Das Kapital.

Presumably, his thesis represented contemporary Labor thinking, as he was quite popular at the time. Since the, as nobody needs reminding, he has been politically assassinated and replaced by an even more left -wing PM, one beholden to the Victorian Labor Left and the Greens. She has shown
her contempt for business and capitalism on a regular basis.

So why are there any members of this forum - at all - who support a Party which holds capitalism in such contempt? It has long puzzled me, and I've asked here before. It seems extraordinarily odd that a Gillard supporter would be a broker, trader or investor rather than a social worker, public servant, or welfare recipient. How can you be a good socialist yet love the markets?

I'd welcome feedback from some of the subjects here, as it would make a most fascinating psychological study.
