Fear is the biggest issue for people like Mr /Ms AntN. In 50's and 60's we feared the southern europeans migrants [greeks italians, slavs etc. Also during this time we welcomed the 10 pound poms from england scotland wales and ireland. then in 70's & 80's it was the asian migrants vietnam cambodia etc that we started to fear. Then the horrific scenarios of the twin towers etc etc and the muslims became the flavour of fear. If we look back on those times we wonder why we were so frightened. Yes we have had a few issues with the odd few from each group but we have had similar problems with our own. It takes a while for the different cultures to blend but they do and they can do because in 90% of the cases the people coming here to do because they too want some peace and stability for their kids. They cling together for a generation or so for the same reasons fear, fear of the unknown and then they begin to mingle.
People like one nation generate this fear and then people who have other issues are attracted to it because they think it will solve their problems. It doesn’t, it tars them with a different brush and its bad for our country.
i am not all for open borders and uncontrolled immigration and i am a firm believer that if one has been welcomed into our community they are free to practice their religions and their culture as long as it doesn’t breach our governments laws etc. if there are breaches then the our privileges should be withdrawn and they should be sent back to their country of origin without fear or favour. IMO
