    You have a good point.
    This does seem to a completely disproportionate reaction to a rather minor incident, particularly one that occured last sepember (as I recall reading).

    In some ways it may be that ruling elites of these countries have seized apon this as a continuation of a long used, tried and true stratey to divert attention away from the shortcomings of the current leadership and disfunctional structure of their own society.

    Making a common outside enemy is often the best way to forstall internal any challenge to you leadership and accumulation of wealth.

    And there is also some truth to the pathological aggression you mentioned. Some of these societies are the most traumatised of all societies that currently exist.
    Forced to live by the often arbitrary policies and practises of the ruling often dictatorial classes, in a 7th century time warp while the rest of the world progresses, as they can readily see from the satellite television they will often have access to.

    Funtioning in a disfunctional society requires a certain frame of mind and can lead to extreme, violent and sudden murderous rages that we see in the current reaction.
