I have relatives and friends who are 100% ALP voters. They just cannot bring themselves to vote Coalition, they still believe the ALP is the poor man's party, it cares.
However, many are Catholic voters as well, they tend to be very loyal to a party with its roots in Catholic social teaching. Regretably the ALP has forgotten that and turned against the very source of its foundations.
Interestingly, a certain Hugh Henry has published two opinion pieces in a Magazine he publishes called Fidelity in which he scathingly rejects the Leftist nature of both the Catholic Bishops and the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. The Church people are turning to the right but leaders have yet to do it.
